The Marigold Project x The Ruby: Altar For Our Beloveds

We are honored to work with The Marigold Project on a series celebrating Día de Los Muertos. Join Ruby friend and R.A.I.C.E.S. Fellow, Danielle Revives of The Marigold Project, in the creation of The Ruby’s first community altar in honor of Dia de Los Muertos.

This is workshop one of a three-part series, where we channel our grief for those that we lost into something artful and beautiful inspired by Dia de los Muertos. In workshop one, we will show you the basics of altar building. You will learn about the significance of the five elements and how they play a distinctive role in the set up of an altar. We will then tap into our creative side and decorate picture frames for our Beloved as well as ready the altar structure for a public share at the Festival of Altars.

We will bring the colorful supplies to adorn the altar. You bring the heart by way of a picture of your chosen Beloved to place on the community altar.

This altar will live on display at The Ruby through the end of September up until Saturday, November 2nd, Day of the Dead. At that point, The Ruby and its members will celebrate alongside the mobile altar and set it up for the evening to be officially a part of the Marigold Project’s Festival of Altars at Potrero Del Sol Park.

*This gathering is for women and non-binary members of The Ruby and extended community.
