Join us as we come together in support of Lamea Abuelrous, neighbor and owner of local business, Temo's Cafe. Lamea is raising funds to support her family of 10 in West Gaza so that they can relocate to safety and receive medical care. Of the 10 family members, 6 are children. They are currently living in a tent on the streets after escaping Rafah and have been sick because of contaminated food and water. Let’s come together to help them reach safety.
We also hope for this to be a nourishing time for mutual support and care amongst neighbors, family, and friends. We are blessed with the talents of our extended community. Lamea has invited Palestinian musicians and community members to perform. Our very own financial hypewoman, Berna Anat, will be speaking on money and activism/advocacy and Ruby Creative in Resident, Jane Kang, will perform as part of Kkhiri Kkhiri, a Korean diasporic percussion collective.
Good friend of The Ruby, Palestinian-American winemaker, Terah Bajjalieh has donated bottles of wine for the event, as has our wonderful friends at Kareen Wine. There will also be plenty of non-alcoholic libations, including Temo’s Coffee!, and snacks prepared by the Ruby community.
Tickets are sliding scale. Please give what you can. All proceeds will go directly to the family.
Direct donations can also be made here. Please consider donating even if you are unable to join us.
Looking forward to gathering as supporters, neighbors and friends.
