Supported by the SF Arts Commission, I am so happy to offer a writing workshop titled 'Singing in the Dark' for fellow Rubies. In this entirely generative workshop, we'll write into grief (personal & communal) through the lens of joy and pleasure. While we will turn to poems as a way of prompting us into writing, the space is open to all genres. My curiosities are rooted in the questions, how do we infuse joy in mourning and remembering, how do we move through grief while being rooted in gratitude/wonder. At the end of the ninety minute workshop, folks will have attempted two to three free-writes, read and discussed poems by Ada Limon, Tiana Clark among others, and built from ideas expressed in the group. Participants are free to work on something new or continue ongoing projects.
