  • The Ruby 23rd Street & Bryant Street San Francisco, CA USA (map)

The Ruby’s Cookbook Club is a combination potluck and book club. Participants should cook a dish from the book (at least 6 servings).

We'll be baking from and discussing From Èkó With Love: A Guide to Modern Nigerian Cooking. The author, Chef Simileoluwa Adebajo, will be joining us for dinner!

We have a copy of the book at the Ruby. Chef Simileoluwa also left several copies at the Ruby if you're interesting in purchasing. We'll send the funds right back to her.

***A note about Covid: This event is open only to vaccinated individuals providing proof of vaccination. We will cap cookbook club attendance at 18 and will be eating and discussing on our outdoor patio****

This book contains recipes and photos of Chef Simileoluwa’s journey to Èkó Kitchen and summarizes a modern day style of Nigerian cooking.

About Chef Simileoluwa "Simi" Adebajo

Simileoluwa “Simi” Adebajo built Èkó Kitchen with her love of food from her home country of Nigeria. She opened her debut location in San Francisco’s SoMa district in 2019 and her second location in Los Angeles’ Arts District in 2021.

By partnering with local vendors and using recipes from her mother and grandmothers’ repertoires, she’s brought a taste of Lagos to California.

Simi is dedicated to serving her local communities through initiatives that feed the homeless. She worked closely with SF New Deal to address food scarcity needs during the COVID pandemic.

Simi and Èkó Kitchen have been recognized with regional and national press coverage from The San Francisco Chronicle, Bon Appetit, Eater, San Francisco Magazine, Today.com, Thrillist, and The Guardian.

When she’s not in the kitchen, Simi dedicates time to her burgeoning beauty brand, Whipped Ori.
