[Virtual] Having Difficult Conversations on Politics and Beyond

Do you have a conflict that is weighing on you this holiday season? Are you bracing yourself for difficult political conversations? Join us to navigate this in supportive community! In this workshop, Ruby member Suzanne Wang will share research-backed tools on talking with people about thorny issues, especially related to politics. Drawing from her work through Effective Dialogue Project and training in conflict mediation, coaching, and deep canvassing, we will explore questions such as: How do we decide when to engage? How can we get someone else to really listen? Is there any hope in changing minds, or at least having a conversation that feels not-frustrating?

While this event will focus on political differences, the content also applies to conflicts in general. We will emerge with more effective tools, a concrete plan to address one conflict, and a renewed sense of possibility.
