[IRL] Indigo Workshop with Verenice Berroa-Torres!

Welcome to our indigo workshop with resist-dyeing! In this workshop, we will be exploring the ancient art of indigo dyeing and creating beautiful designs using resist-dyeing techniques.

The indigo workshop with resist-dyeing is a hands-on experience where participants learn how to use the resist technique to create beautiful patterns and designs on fabric using indigo dye. In this workshop, participants will learn about the history of indigo, the basics of dyeing, and different types of resist techniques. They will also learn how to create their own resist designs using rubber bands and strings.

Participants will have the opportunity to dye their fabric multiple times to achieve different shades of blue. At the end of the workshop, each participant will have a unique and personalized piece of indigo-dyed fabric to take home.

About Verenice Berroa-Torres

Hello there, it's great to meet you! My name is Verenice and I'm passionate about creating beautiful pieces using plants, minerals and textiles. I believe that we can all work together in harmony with nature, without any separation.

My curiosity, surprise and love for nature drives me to learn more every day about collaborative relationships with the natural world. I strive for balance and flow in everything I create, and I believe that each piece I make has its own unique essence and vibration that comes from the plants I use.

My hope is to share the magic and beauty of botanical dyes with others, and to remind everyone that nature has always been here to support us throughout our lives. When I create, I am co-creating with Mother Earth, and each piece is a reminder of that connection. I'm excited to share my journey with you and to continue learning from the natural world together. I teach at The Crucible and host several workshops in the East Bay.
