We're so honored to host Asha Pandya, who made so many delicious dishes for Shruti Swamy's paperback launch. After many exclamations of delight over her incredible food, Asha has graciously agreed to teach us some of her culinary secrets! We'll be cooking a full meal with Asha and then enjoying our bounty together for a community lunch on our outdoor deck!
There are two options for this event:
1. You can cook and learn with Asha, before sitting down for our communal meal
OR
2. You can come to eat a delicious home-cooked Gujarati meal with us! We'll be making a feast meant for sharing! We plan to eat this meal on our outdoor deck.
About Asha Pandya
Asha Pandya is an expert, enthusiastic and innovative home cook with decades of experience nourishing her family, community, and loved ones. While her background is in Gujarati cuisine, Asha by no means cooks "traditional" Gujarati food (if such a thing exists!). Instead, Asha riffs using the materials on hand, her own tastes and preferences, and with an eye towards health and nutrition, to create dishes that are grounded in tradition and wholly her own. With an intuitive and signature use of spices, Asha's food is quintessentially her own, a culinary voice as distinctive as any found in literature. When not cooking, Asha is a lawyer, a former math and science teacher, and aerospace engineer, as well as mom to Ruby member Shruti Swamy and adoring grandmother to Flick.
Health, Safety, & Accessibility
We ask all non-members for proof of vaccination at the door (Ruby members themselves are required to be vaccinated so they've already been checked). To save time at check-in, you can also send us your proof of vaccination to events@therubysf.com (a photo of your vaccination card works fine). Masks are highly encouraged and we have KN95s available at the front desk if anyone should need one. We will also be running our large air filter during the event.
Regrettably, we have a staircase that leads up to the kitchen and outdoor eating space but we're happy to help with hauling things up the stairs and supporting anyone with accessibility needs.
