Need a place to process the turbulent, disturbing death-match that was Squid Game? Join fellow Rubies for a Squid Game-themed potluck and discussion. We’ll gather to enjoy foods inspired by the TV show (e.g. the lunch box in episode 3; tteokbokki for Ga-yeong’s birthday dinner in episode 1; dalgona candy if anyone would like to attempt it; corn-on-the-cob, boiled eggs, potatoes given to players during the games; Samyang ramyeon eaten by Sang-woo and Ali in episode 2; the final steak + wine dinner) while delving into the dystopian world of Netflix’s most viewed show in ninety countries: the historical context, burning questions that remained at the end of the show, possible plot theories, the moral battles that unraveled throughout, the juicy capitalist parables that may or may not have resonated, and anything else you would like to talk about.
