This book club is for anyone who's always wanted to read long literary classics like Proust's In Search Of Lost Time but never gotten around to it. We're gathering women seeking sustained endeavors as sanctuary in the age of the tweet, and who are excited about the idea of visiting/revisiting a largely white male canon through the lens of women translators. Some questions we'll ask are why we feel we need to read these books, and what benefits and pitfalls accrue from length. We'll begin with Lydia Davis's translation of Proust's In Search of Lost Time: Volume 1.
